Our Services
Annandale Roofing is a Kilmarnock based company, who work throughout Ayrshire and all surrounding areas.
We carry out all aspects of rooting work including;
Inspection of Slate Roofs
Repairing a Slated Roof
Some roofers who are obliged to undertake an invisible repair in these circumstances invariably resort to using high grab adhesive and glue replacement slates to their neighbours. A better answer is to use a visible fixing called a tingle although often the metal strip used for this purpose is not strong enough to do a good job. Plastic products are visible, unsightly and time consuming to install.
We promote the use of items such as the Hallhook™ which is a permanent, secret and fail safe device that can be used when replacing a double nailed broken slate.
Tiled Roofs
New Tiled Roof
If your roof is in a poor condition and you are looking to re-new your roof completely we will be able to walk you through the process. There are a variety of tiles available like clay tiles and concrete tiles in a wide range of styles and colours. At Annandale roofing we can give you information on what tiles are available so that you can make the choice on exactly how you want your new roof to look.
Concrete interlocking tiles are the most popular in Britain because they are cheap, quick to lay and come in a range of colours, finishes and profiles. Some of the tiles in the Marley Eternit range include:
- Modern
- Edgemere
- Ludlow
- Double Roman
- Mendip
- Wessex
- Ashmore
- Anglia
- Plain Tile
When renewing your roof you may decide to go with a cloaked verge. Cloaked verge tiles are special fittings made to finish off the left hand and right hand verge of the roof. These are considered to be more aesthetically pleasing than their plastic counterparts, they are also easy to lay and will have a good life expectancy.
Flat Roofing

Since 1980 more than 1,000,000,000m2 of Firestone EPDM membranes have been successfully installed on roofs worldwide. This shows it’s a well trusted high quality product.
Cure It
Glass fibre or GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) was first invented in the 1940’s and first used for the manufacture of Ray Domes (Housing for early radar equipment). Soon after, the first GRP Roof Lights were made and are still in use today, 60 years later, still keeping out the elements far beyond the original design life of the roof.
In later years GRP went on to revolutionise the boat industry and has demonstrated its ability to form a structure that will perform for decades with no degradation – in the worst possible environments – all over the world. In recent years GRP has been adopted as a flat roofing medium in place of bitumen based products.
GRP has already demonstrated enormous benefits and is now specified throughout the UK at a rate of over 10 million square metres of flat roof area per year. Using the very latest in GRP technology the system is quick and easy to install and has the optional benefit of incorporating integral insulation boards into the system. The end product is a lightweight, highly durable, cost effective flat roof construction that will last the lifetime of the building.
Roofline Products
Roofline consists of fascia, soffit, gutters, dry verge etc. We can install a variety of different systems although PVC-UE systems seem to be the most popular due to their lower cost and low maintenance. Regardless of the system used we will be able to leave a professional finish at a competitive cost.
Gutters
We install new PVC fascia, soffit and gutters on a regular basis. Our service is fast and competitively priced brining minimum disruption and high customer satisfaction.
Installing new roofline products will give your building a fresh look that will help you if you’re looking to sell your property. New roofline products will give people a great first impression which is vital.
A PVC-UE roofline system will not rot, warp, crack or erode and does not require painting or any other protective treatment. The tough impermeable outer skin of the boards provides year round protection from both the weather and insect infestation.
Dry Fix Systems
Dry fix systems are designed to attach a variety of components to a roof without the use of mortar. Components include; dry ridge, dry verge, dry hips and dry valleys. A mortar system is perfectly fine if mixed properly and put on correctly but if you are having problems with your existing mortar system then a dry fix system may be a good solution for you.
Interlocking Verge Units
These are individual plastic units that slide or snap together and tend to be mechanically fixed. They are normally designed for use with single-lap interlocking tiles.
Gutter Cleaning
The amount of debris and detritus that will build up in your gutters will vary largely depending on what roof covering you have as well as your local environment. It is essential to keep your gutters clear for two main reasons. Firstly a build up of debris can lead to the downpipes getting chocked which can lead to expensive repairs. Secondly a blocked downpipe and gutter will force water down the wall of your building, damaging your brickwork and allowing for the ingress of water.
If you stay in area surrounded by trees there is a product that we promote to keep your gutters clear all year round. Its called the hedgehog™ which is a continuous polypropylene ‘brush’ which prevents the build up of wind-blown debris. This product is maintenance free and pays for itself in no time.
If you are looking to breathe some new life into your roof we can also clean the moss from your roof which can revitalize its appearance. We do this manually because we have found that power washers can cause more harm than good.
Leadwork
we use patination oil, lead sheet sealant and the highest quality fixings to ensure an expert finish.
Chimney Restoration and Demolition
Some of the common defects in chimneys include; deterioration of mortar joints, splits caused by heat expansion, broken or missing pots, cracked flaunching and potential damage caused by the weight (lever action) of aerials.
When chimney stacks are redundant and clients are quite sure that they will not be required again, an opportunity arises to remove the stack below the roof line and to tile or slate over. This is most often the most suitable solution as an alternative to rebuilding where a stack is in poor condition.
We also carry out chimney restoration which can involve repointing, rebuilding, patching or renewing roughcast, repairing flaunching and rebidding pots.
Essential Roof Components
- Eaves Systems
- Verge Systems
- Hip Systems
- Valley Systems
- Ridge Systems
- Effective Ventilation
- Specialist Installations
All of these aspects of your roof are important and are things we check when carrying out roof inspections. We promote the use of vented systems so that insulation can be applied without the risk of condensation within the loft space.
Solar Panels
Solar water heating systems use the energy from the sun to heat water, most commonly for hot water needs (such as washing and cleaning requirements). Solar heating systems use a heat collector that is usually mounted on the roof in which a fluid is heated by the sun. This fluid is used to heat water that is stored in either a separate hot water cylinder or in a twin-coil hot water cylinder.
Photovoltaic (PV) modules convert sunlight directly to DC electricity. The solar cells consist of a thin piece of semiconductor material, in most cases of silicon. A typical PV cell will produce a voltage of around 0·5 V. In order to generate a higher voltage, a number of cells are connected in series to form a PV module. The modules are then connected together to create a photovoltaic array. PV arrays produce DC electricity. This DC power can be used directly by DC motors in fans or pumps, or for charging batteries. However, in most instances the DC power will be converted to AC power using an inverter to supply your household electricity.

Roughcasting
Rendering can provide a number of advantages to your building such as giving extra weather protection, providing a decorative surface and hiding materials such as blockwork or common brickwork. Render can come in many forms, but over the years the through-colour render has become a lot more popular than the others. A ‘Through-Coloured Render System’ represents a single product that is weather-proof and through-coloured. Carefully selected colours and aggregates make up the range of renders that product a decorative finish that will mature naturally and blend with its surroundings, giving years of trouble-free service requiring minimal maintenance.
